Maybe you know a lot about Wisconsin Student Lobby, maybe not. Regardless, you probably have some questions. This page was designed to clear up any confusion you have. If those questions aren’t answered here, email us at wistudentlobby@gmail.com.
What can Wisconsin Student Lobby offer my organization?
Glad you asked. Let’s begin with advocacy training, a completely free presentation providing tools and resources for your UW student organization to engage in issue-based advocacy. Even if your organization isn’t interested in direct lobbying at the Capitol, advocacy training can still be extremely valuable. Your group has a message. Our training will allow your members to collaborate in their efforts and ideas.
You can read more about advocacy training here.
What else does WSL offer?
New this year is a news compilation service created by our communications director, Hannah Furfaro. This service will provide any interested student or organization with email notifications about specific news and events specifically requested, e.g. university events, local politics, or alerts when a group or leader is mentioned in campus media. In addition to these updates, Wisconsin Student Lobby provides in-house consultation to help students find news resources, interpret current events, and most effectively take advantage of this service.
You can learn more and sign up for news compilation by visiting this page.
How can I join WSL?
Glad to see you want to get involved! Just go to our membership page to get started, or check out when our next general membership meeting is scheduled. We look forward to hearing from you and seeing you around the office!
Does WSL have a clearly defined mission?
The mission of Wisconsin Student Lobby is to advocate on behalf of students and maintain and expand the educational resources and opportunities available to all University of Wisconsin-Madison students. The centerpiece of such efforts is the advocacy of sustained and increased financial support for the University that will better the educational experience of all students, within and without the classroom, in all aspects of campus life, in a direct and recognizable way. The Wisconsin Student Lobby strives to reach these aims through the following:
- Education of the university community and state citizens on issues of higher education
- Provision of information, resources, and services to students, as individuals and groups, which allow them to engage in issue-based advocacy
- Direct lobbying efforts guided by a legislative agenda that students alone may shape
Is WSL on Facebook?
Absolutely. Our Facebook page will keep you up-to-date on the organization and any events we may sponsor.

Who is Wisconsin Student Lobby?
Bios of our staff can be found on the “Meet WSL” page of this site. WSL is staffed exclusively by dedicated, politically active university students with a passion for helping their peers achieve their goals through lobbying at both the state and university level. We take pride in being able to advocate for student interests without the help of full-time lobbyists.
